EMDR Therapy in Salt Lake City
Heal at the root — not just cope. Release trauma, ease anxiety, and move forward with confidence.
EMDR therapy can help you break free from old patterns and improve your quality of life. You deserve more than just coping — you deserve to step into your true, authentic self.
About Salty Counseling:
At Salty Counseling, we specialize in trauma-focused, evidence-based therapy for adults who are ready to move beyond cycles of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. Using EMDR, somatic therapy, and polyvagal-informed care, we help clients heal at the root rather than relying on surface-level strategies.
How Therapy Works:
Consistent Support: Weekly or every other week sessions, in-person in Salt Lake City or virtually anywhere in Utah.
Personalized Process: Many clients arrive feeling anxious, drained, or stuck. Through therapy, they learn to regulate their nervous systems, release old wounds, and reconnect to their authentic self with ease and confidence.
Practical & Transparent: Sessions are private-pay with simple, clear rates. Superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement, and we also partner with Mentaya to help clients submit claims directly to insurance.

I no longer meet criteria for PTSD
“I've worked with Q for about a year, and I am pleased to say that after my last meeting with my psychiatrist, I no longer meet the criteria for PTSD! I am so happy that I worked on my trauma. I literally have been healed. If you are on the fence about starting therapy, let me just say, do it! It's so worth it! I was so scared to start because who wants to really look at their pain, but Q prepared me with tools before diving in.”

Childhood trauma and attachment wounds

Feeling stuck in patterns, perfectionism, or
people-pleasing
Constant tension, burnout, or always being “on edge”

What to Expect in EMDR Therapy
EMDR therapy follows eight gentle, evidence-based phases that help your brain safely process and release trauma. Here’s how it works in therapy:
Phase 1: History & Treatment Planning
We start by exploring what brings you to therapy and identifying the memories or experiences you’d like to heal.
Phase 2: Preparation & Stabilization
You’ll learn grounding and nervous system regulation tools to create safety before reprocessing begins.
Phase 3–4: Assessment, Desensitization & Reprocessing
Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), your brain begins to release and reprocess stuck material — reducing the emotional charge of painful memories.
Phase 5: Installation
You replace old beliefs (“I’m not safe,” “It’s my fault”) with new, empowering truths like “I’m safe now” or “I’m enough.”
Phase 6: Body Scan
We notice how your body feels as the emotional weight shifts — a key part of somatic integration.
Phase 7–8: Closure & Reevaluation
Each session ends with grounding and calm. In later sessions, we review progress and reinforce your sense of resilience and peace.
EMDR helps you move from surviving to feeling fully present, grounded, and capable of experiencing life with ease.

A Note from Q, LCSW (she/her):
Many of the people I work with look like they’re holding everything together on the outside — driven, hardworking, and often caught in perfectionism or people-pleasing. But inside, they feel anxious, exhausted, or like nothing is ever enough.
Some are part of the LGBTQ+ community, others are professionals or caregivers — but what they all share is the desire to stop just coping and finally feel at home in themselves.
If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. My approach combines EMDR, somatic therapy, and polyvagal-informed care to help you move beyond survival mode and into lasting healing.
