Salty Counseling — Trauma Specialty Clinic in Salt Lake City

A trauma specialty clinic for clinicians who are seeking strong mentorship and meaningful professional growth.

Salty Counseling is a trauma specialty clinic in Salt Lake City focused on ethical, depth-oriented clinical work and structured mentorship. We believe strong therapists are built through clarity, containment, and consistent support — not productivity pressure or burnout culture.

Many therapists come from environments where they were overworked, under-supervised, or expected to “figure it out on their own.” Salty Counseling was built as an alternative to that model.

Our clinic offers structured supervision, sustainable caseload expectations, and clear clinical systems so therapists can focus on learning and client care — not survival.

Who We Are

Salty Counseling is a trauma specialty clinic grounded in EMDR, somatic therapy, and nervous-system–informed care. Our work focuses on treating chronic stress, anxiety, and deeply rooted trauma patterns with intention, pacing, and clinical depth.

We operate as a focused clinical environment that prioritizes thoughtful treatment planning, ethical decision-making, and quality of care.

What Supervisees Are Saying

“For the past year, Q served as my supervisor while I completed my MSW at the University of Utah. Her approach allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. She fostered a supervisory relationship built on mutual respect, curiosity, and trust, and helped me develop confidence in my clinical voice.”

Who Thrives at Salty Counseling

Clinicians who tend to thrive here are those who:

  • Value depth-oriented, trauma-informed work

  • Want to be part of a growing clinic

  • Have at least one year of experience providing psychotherapy or counseling services to clients

  • Want to become a specialist in trauma-informed and EMDR therapy

  • Appreciate structure without rigidity

  • Want mentorship while developing their clinical voice, judgment, and skills

  • Care deeply about ethics, boundaries, and high-quality clinical care

  • Prefer intentional, sustainable caseloads over high-volume models

We are not the right fit for everyone — and that clarity protects both clinicians and clients.

We Are Growing

We welcome applications from both fully licensed and associate pre-licensed clinicians in Utah, including LCSW, LCMHC, CSW, and ACMHC therapists.

Salty Counseling is actively accepting applications as we expand into a trauma specialty clinic.

Associate clinicians receive structured weekly supervision toward clinical licensure. All clinicians receive ongoing mentorship and EMDR consultation with Q Porschatis, LCSW, Consultant-in-Training (CIT), to support clinical development and EMDR training/certification.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to early applicants.
